Privia: An Instrument That Inspires Motivation and Expression
Randall Faber, pianist and author, is widely recognised as the co-developer of the renowned Piano Adventures method which he created together with his wife Nancy Faber.
Piano Adventures is a piano learning method designed for students aged five years and older and is now enjoyed in over 30 countries and translated into 13 languages. The program takes a well-rounded approach, helping students develop key musical skills—reading, listening, writing, and playing—while exploring a wide range of styles from classical and jazz to pop and rock. Alongside basic music theory, it places strong emphasis on nurturing expressive and artistic performance techniques.
“My wife and I work closely with teachers around the world to help students grow as pianists,” says Randall. “Our mission is to help every student develop artistry. In our methodology, we define artistry as the combination of three key elements: analysis, creativity, and expression. By introducing these early in the learning process, we aim to support students in developing their full musical potential. One of the most important aspects of this is helping them connect the sensation of touch on the keys to the sound they produce.”
Randall recalls being deeply impressed when he first discovered Privia.
“As teachers with many years of experience, we’ve witnessed how far digital pianos have come. In the past decade, the sound and feel of digital instruments have improved dramatically, but the Privia PX-S7000 goes even further. Its refined design, distinctive character, and exceptional key touch immediately stood out. It not only supports expressive playing but feels like a work of art itself—an instrument that inspires deeper artistic expression.”
He also reflects on his initial surprise when he first played it.
“At first, I assumed it was just another digital piano. But the moment I touched the keys, everything changed. It felt just like playing an acoustic piano with ivory keys, and I was immediately drawn in. With its beautiful sound and remarkable touch, the Privia PX-S7000 is an instrument that inspires motivation and expression.”
